Holiday Spa Marketing

Do you get anxiety just thinking about spa holiday marketing?

It’s hard to believe we are nearing the end of 3rd quarter. September seems to fly by, and before we know it, the holidays sneak up on us. We seem to fall for it every year! I was speaking to an esthetician recently and she was telling me how she dreaded the holidays in her spa business because of the general chaos and not knowing how to promote gift cards. She shuddered at the thought of putting together a holiday party for clients. “The entire holiday season is exhausting,” she said. “I don’t even like gift cards, so I avoid selling them all together.”

We, as humans, tend to avoid the things we don’t like or that we’re not good at. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed unless you have a few simple marketing solutions to help you feel organized and less stressed so that you can capitalize on the opportunities during this festive time of year. “No one likes to feel stressed out!” I told her, especially during the holidays. It’s a time to get into the spirit, have fun, and make some money.

I suggest implementing the following tips from “Profit During the Holidays” spa business course.

Get Organized

The first thing you want to do is get organized.

spa sales tips

  • How many new clients would you like to attract?
  • How much money do you want to make?
  • What do you need to do to get focused and remain inspired?
  • What resources will you need?

If you start the planning process now, most of your anxiety will lift, especially if you stay organized and get focused.

Write Down Your Goals

Writing down your goals is integral to your success. Forbes.com recently cited a study done by Gail Matthews at Dominican University, that found those who wrote down their goals accomplished significantly more than those who did not write down their goals.

Goals you should write down include: service sales, retail sales, number of new clients, and gift card sales.

Goals should be SMART. Specific, Measurable, Actionable and Time Based.

Here is an example of a SMART goal for gift card sales:

“My goal is to sell 1 gift card per day for the months of October, November, and December at an average value of $50 resulting in 90 gift cards sold and additional revenue of $4,500 for Q4 2016.”

Encourage Gift Card Sales

I do encourage gift card sales because it’s still the preferred gift! People love to spend during this time of year. It makes sense to offer a gift card to your client and help make the holiday shopping experience easier. Your client is probably going to purchase gift cards anyway, so why not purchase from you? I suggest to make it part of your offering during the check-out process after their service. It’s sometimes as simple as that! We forget to offer! We are in the service industry and it’s all about offering.

Host a Holiday Party

Write down ideas for a holiday party. It doesn’t need to be an expensive or elaborate. Getting organized will ease your mind. People love parties. Especially during the Holidays. Most estheticians don’t like the idea of throwing a party because of either cost or limited space. There are simple workarounds for this.

The objective for a holiday party or event is to generate income for your business. Not for it to be a huge expense. If space is tight, there are many restaurants that offer private rooms at no additional cost if you spend a certain amount on food. You could also collaborate with another business who has a larger space and who compliments what you offer. I believe it’s important to have revenue goals the night of your event. Offer a special promotion that is exclusive to attendees.

By getting organized, setting goals, incorporating gift card sales, and hosting a holiday party, you can make Q4 2016 your most profitable and fun yet! Don’t let the stress of the holidays overwhelm you. Look at this time as an opportunity to grow your business.
