If you are looking to add microcurrent to your esthetician business this article is for you. I still believe Neurotris Microcurrent is the best on the market because it produces results your clients want.
Have you seen the Madonna Instagram video showing an esthetician giving her the NeurotriS Microcurrent Treatment? The “fork facial” video went viral and microcurrent facial treatments are the rage right now.
Ok, so you’re ready to add microcurrent to your service offereings. How do you choose the best microcurrent machine?
To find out what’s going on with microcurrent today, I went to the source and talked to Tony Picciano, founder and CEO of NeurotriS. Tony holds a Master’s degree in electronic engineering, which makes him an expert on the subject of microcurrent.
Tony and I discussed why microcurrent machines aren’t created equal. We also talked about what you need to know before you purchase.
Let’s start with some microcurrent background…
Why the “Chang Study” is Misleading
If you look up the science behind microcurrent, you’re likely to come across the “Chang Study.” It’s a study on the effect of electrical currents on cells.
The experiment was done “in vitro”. This means that the cells were taken out of their environment and put in a Petri dish. The scientists ran a current through the cells and observed how they reacted.
The problem is that while the scientists could conclude that microcurrent works on the cells, it didn’t produce the same results when applied on live skin. Simply put, our faces aren’t Petri dishes!
The Real Reason Why Most Microcurrent Machines Don’t Work
Most microcurrent machines on the market are imported (e.g., from China). They are developed based on the false assumption that a small device emitting a low current will make a “microcurrent machine.”
But of course, it’s not that simple.
At NeurotriS, Tony works with a team of electronic engineers who understand electro-therapeutics. He also works with physicians who know how electric current travels through the body.
An effective microcurrent machine needs the ability to sense each user’s skin so it can output the perfect level of current in response to the unique skin type and density.
Our skin conditions change daily. Depending on factors such as the level of hydration, a device needs to adjust the signal and current strength in real time during a treatment.
If you look at most of the microcurrent machines on the market, there is hype about the output of 500 microamps. 500 microamps doesn’t mean anything without the capability to adjust the strength of the current. And this is based on each user’s skin condition.
On the other hand, NeurotriS’s machine has a built-in computer with the technology to sense each client’s skin condition. This allows the perfect output level of current to optimize results.
The Science Behind NeurotriS’s Microcurrent Machine (and why it works)
Look at NeurotriS’ Facebook or Instagram posts. You will find amazing before/after photos of clients from all over the world. To understand why this device can achieve such dramatic results, we need to dig into the science.
When we try to send current, the biggest barrier is skin. The skin actually prevents electrical energy from reaching the cells.
A machine that simply outputs 500 microamps without the ability to adjust for skin density could be delivering much less. Perhaps only 50 microamps reach the cells by the time the current travels through the skin.
Since our cells react differently depending on the waveform emitted by the machine and the density of the skin, we must ensure that the current reaches the cells. The effectiveness of a microcurrent treatment is affected by the technology’s ability to ensure that a consistent current at the desired strength reaches the cells.
In addition, not all currents are the same. As the wave penetrates the skin, the shape (also called the signal or signature) has to maintain its integrity.
Microcurrent signatures dictate how far the current reaches into the skin. It also dictates the depth of the tissues it treats, and the exact tissues it targets. By changing the shape of the wave, we can treat deep muscles deep or cells closer to the skin’s surface.
You need the ability to monitor the quality of the signal and the strength of the current reaching the cells. If you are currently using a low-cost machine, you may not be producing the results your clients are expecting.
The computer in the NeurotriS machine calculates output based on the current, voltage, amplitude, and type of waveform. This ensures that the perfect signal reaches the destination tissues for maximum effectiveness. Boom. You now have fabulous results for your clients.
This consistent signature is what makes a “true microcurrent.” Or, as Tony puts it, “The way I define true microcurrent is one word: “results”.
The “Fork Facial” That Went Viral
Let’s talk about the “fork” in Madonna’s viral video. This is the key behind the “multi-channel” technology that makes the NeurotriS machine so effective.
Because the NeurotriS machine has multiple channels, it gets more surface area conduction on the skin compared to single channel systems. Note that the machine isn’t delivering more current. Instead, it’s delivering the same current to more surface area and therefore, getting more “signals” to do the work.
Each prong of the fork in the NeurotriS machine delivers a specific signature that’s independent of the other prongs.
This system is very different from other machines that have multiple “ports,”. Most ports are connected to one channel so if one prong shorts out, the others go dead as well.
Not to mention, if you connect a face pad and the signal saturates, you could be left with a 10% efficiency. This happens because all the prongs are connected to the same channel in lower-cost machines.
If you’re shopping around, you may come across some machines with more prongs. But remember, those prongs are getting signal from a single channel. The effectiveness decreases as soon as you connect one to a face pad and put it on the skin (which is what we’re supposed to do!)
On the other hand, the prongs on the NeurotriS machine are independent of each other. When one is connected to a face pad, the effectiveness of the other prongs aren’t affected.
The Only FDA-Certified Microcurrent Machine
NeurotriS is the only brand on the market that’s FDA-certified because it’s truly US-manufactured. Most other brands are imported from overseas and then packaged in the US.
In addition, NeurotriS is the only company that’s licensed to manufacture and sell these medical devices.
Yes, microcurrent machines are medical devices and that’s why they’re regulated by the FDA.
To be certified, NeurotriS’s facilities are inspected by the FDA and the products are safety-tested to ensure that they meet the highest quality standards.
The machines have also gone through EMF emissions testing to ensure that they don’t emit harmful emissions or radiation.
In addition, NeurotriS is rated ISO 13485, which is the highest quality standard on the market.
A Closer Look at the NeurotriS Microcurrent Machines
NeurotriS produces two microcurrent facial machines with the four channel current. The top-of-the-line SX-4500 has the facial and body machines all in one unit. This allows you to deliver both treatments at the same time.
You can also get a higher ROI by offering both face and body treatments simultaneously.
NeurotriS’s patented technology analyzes each user’s skin type and density correctly. This allows correct output with the right level of microcurrent while maintaining signal integrity.
How To Add Microcurrent To Your Esthetician Business Model
As an esthetician career coach, I believe in having a strong business model that yields high returns and builds client retention. Give your clients results and create recurring revenue.
Purchasing a microcurrent machine is an investment and I never like to see estheticians go into debt. Let’s be smart about this so that you don’t purchase on a credit card with high interest rates. I’d rather see you put the machine on a 0% card and pay it off quickly.
I teach you a pre-launch method that has your microcurrent paid off right away. Some estheticians even put their pre-launch money as a down payment with zero out-of-pocket costs.
Price your microcurrent treatments perfectly and charge your worth. This high-end treatment will attract high-value clients. Once your clients see the results, they will have no problem paying.
