NeurotriS: The Best Microcurrent Machine On The Market

In February 2018, Madonna posted an Instagram video showing an esthetician giving her the NeurotriS Microcurrent Treatment. Let’s explore why this quite possibly is the best microcurrent on the market today.

This “fork facial” video went viral and microcurrent facial treatments are the rage right now. Estheticians are investing in microcurrent machines to keep up with consumer demand.

Many spa owners and estheticians are adding microcurrent treatment to their offerings. However, with the flood of devices out there, how do you choose the best microcurrent machine?

To find out what’s going on with microcurrent today, I went to the source and talked to Tony Picciano, founder and CEO of NeurotriS. Tony holds a Master’s degree in electronic engineering, which makes him an expert on the subject of microcurrent.

We discussed why microcurrent machines aren’t created equal, what you need to know when purchasing one, and why microcurrent is truly one of the best, non-invasive treatments that produce long-term results.

Why the “Chang Study” is Misleading

If you look up the science behind microcurrent, you’re likely to come across the “Chang Study.” It’s a study on the effect of electrical currents on cells.

The experiment was done “in vitro” – meaning the cells were taken out of their environment and put in a Petri dish. The scientists ran a current through the cells and observed how they reacted.

The problem is that while the scientists could conclude that microcurrent works on the cells at that level, it may not produce the same results when applied in the real world because, simply put, our faces aren’t Petri dishes!

The Real Reason Why Most Microcurrent Machines Don’t Work

Many microcurrent machines on the market are imported (e.g., from China) and they were developed base on the false assumption that a small device emitting a low current will make a “microcurrent machine.”

But of course, it’s not that simple.

The Science Behind NeurotriS’s Microcurrent Machine (and why it works)

When you look at NeurotriS’ Facebook or Instagram posts, you’ll find amazing before/after photos of clients from all over the world. To understand why their device can achieve such dramatic results, we need to dig into the science.

When we try to send a current, the skin is the biggest barrier preventing the electrical energy from reaching the cells.

A machine that simply outputs 500 microamps without the ability to adjust for skin density could be delivering only 50 microamps to the cells by the time the current travels through the skin.

Since our cells react differently depending on the waveform emitted by the machine and the density of the skin, the effectiveness of a microcurrent treatment is affected by the technology’s ability to ensure that a consistent current at the desired strength reaches the cells.

In addition, not all currents are the same. As the wave penetrates the skin, the shape (also called the signal or signature) has to maintain its integrity.

This signature dictates how far the current reaches into the skin, the depth of the tissues it treats, and the exact tissues it targets. By changing the shape of the wave, we can treat muscles deep underneath the skin or cells closer to the surface.

Without the ability to monitor the quality of the signal and the strength of the current reaching the cells, estheticians using low-cost machines aren’t delivering results for their clients.

On the other hand, the computer in the NeurotriS machine calculates its output base on the current, voltage, amplitude, and type of waveform to ensure that the perfect signal reaches the destination tissues for maximum effectiveness. Boom.

This consistent signature is what makes a “true microcurrent.” Or, as Tony puts it, “The way I define true microcurrent is one word: results.” Estheticians want results and their clients expect results.

The “Fork Facial” That Went Viral

Let’s talk about the “fork” in Madonna’s viral video. What’s that about?

It’s actually the key behind the “multi-channel” technology that makes the NeurotriS machine so effective.

Because the NeurotriS machine has multiple channels, it gets more surface area conduction on the skin compared to single channel systems. Note that the machine isn’t delivering more current. Instead, it’s delivering the same current to more surface area and therefore, getting more “signals” to do the work.

Each prong of the fork in the NeurotriS machine delivers a specific signature that’s independent of the other prongs.

This system is very different from other machines that have multiple “ports,” which are all connected to one channel so if one prong shorts out, the others go dead as well.

Not to mention, if you connect a face pad and the signal saturates, you could be left with a 10% efficiency because all the prongs are connected to the same channel in lower-cost machines.

If you’re shopping around, you may come across some machines with more prongs. But remember, those prongs are getting signal from a single channel and their effectiveness decreases as soon as you connect one to a face pad and put it on the skin (which is what we’re supposed to do!)

On the other hand, the prongs on the NeurotriS machine are independent of each other. When one is connected to a face pad, the effectiveness of the other prongs isn’t affected.

The Only FDA-Certified Microcurrent Machine

NeurotriS is the only brand on the market that’s FDA-certified because it’s truly US-manufactured. Most other brands are imported from overseas and then packaged in the US.
